    The Story

    Polymer heat shrink tubing is a standard in medical device manufacturing, but PEBAX heat shrink, with its simplified application processes and increased flexibility was a new, and superior, proprietary offering. We needed to design a visual identity language that was sleek and that would communicate the difference in process, while giving the technical information front and center that R&D engineers need to make quick decisions.



    Design Premise

    How can we illustrate the flexibility and specialized bonding properties?

    PEBAX Heat Shrink Tubing(R) bonds directly to underlying materials, ensuring stability and a wrinkle-free application. This is crucial when designing intravenous applications, and differs from the product usually seen on the market.

    We chose to visualize specific call-outs and a close, suction cup finish on a hypodermic tube, a common use case.



    Visualizing Product Properties

    Specialized Bonding & Flexibility Properties

    Heat shrink tubing is commonly used for coating fine wires and catheters. Color coding queues medical professionals to use the correct product, and gives R&D engineers peace of mind when organizing different gauge wires, mandrels, and tubings in a single product. It is also an opportunity for brand or internal process distinction — this tubing can be printed in any color or pattern.

    The core measurements R&D engineer needs to select heat shrink for their device are the expanded inner diameter, reduced inner diameter, and thickness. We created this data visualization to showcase available products within the customer’s line, giving R&D engineers a quick glance at available ranges to discuss more in detail with their rep.

    Brand Design

    Neo-futuristic Font

    Stellar: readable, open sans serif with a Neo-futuristic style. Perfectly paired with the sleek, state-of-the-art tubing imagery.

    Gradient Finishes

    We needed a gradient palette that would mirror the yellow, blue, and white core palette of the brand, but emphasize the clear finish of the coatings.
